Goal of the Conference
The International Network for Vocal and Instrumental Teacher Education (INVITE) is organizing, in cooperation with ‘Polifonia’ and the AEC, a conference on the rapid changes in the work contexts and professional roles of instrumental teachers. Not only are pupils drawn from a multitude of musical, cultural and social backgrounds, but also the actual teaching environment and content have changed (e.g. combining individual and group teaching, coping with a wider spectrum of musical genres and learning styles).

These changes challenge the existing educational framework, content and structure of courses, as does the Bologna process, bringing the importance of international collaboration between institutions and a dialogue within the professional field to the forefront. With this conference we strive to create an arena for the exchange of ideas and practices, collaboration and a multilateral debate on the current situation and on the challenges for the future of instrumental teacher education in Europe.

Conference Themes
The current trends that are facing vocal and instrumental teachers are the main topics of the conference. In relationship to these themes, the following subjects will be addressed throughout the conference:
• Discussion about challenges to higher education and international collaboration
• Presentation of the work in progress of the INVITE -network
• Examples of good practice in teacher education in different contexts
• Poster session: a forum to present your institution and its special projects
• Open forum: open call for presentations related to instrumental/vocal teacher education

Seminar fee: 100 € (including all material and meals)
