3rd Cycle Music Studies in Europe
The report of the seminar can now be downloaded here!
Goal of the seminar
Related to the Bologna process, many institutions have established 1st and 2nd cycle studies. Approximately 44 institutions within the AEC membership have also established a 3rd cycle, and several institutions are planning to expand to this level. Within 'Polifonia' the 3rd cycle working group has addressed issues related to 3rd cycle studies in higher music education, looking at specific curriculum characteristics and learning outcomes for this cycle. This work is based on a description of what is currently going on within AEC institutions regarding this cycle, and on information from members through separate meetings. The AEC annual congress 2006 in Salzburg has also been used as an opportunity to present and discuss issues relevant to this cycle.
The 3rd cycle group will end its work at the end of September 2007. Before writing its final report, the group invites all members of the AEC and those interested in 3rd cycle studies in music to a seminar at the Musikhochschule Karlsruhe, to discuss issues relevant for 3rd cycle studies.
